I have COMPLETELY fallen in love with Winston-Salem! After my Fall and Spring visits, I could see myself living here one day! This blog post includes all of the best restaurants, sights, and stays that have stolen my heart and that y'all need to visit asap!

GREAT EATS

Try the best fresh seafood and southern fried seafood available in NC at Forsyth Seafood Market & Cafe!

This amazing Black-owned market was started back in 1984 by Virginia and her late husband Charlie. The market and cafe are now run by Virginia and her daughter Ashley Armstrong. Their passion for providing fresh and quality seafood is awesome!

You can purchase fresh raw fish at their market, or order a meal from their cafe. Our favorite fried seafood dishes were the red snapper, fried oyster sandwich, crab, and crab cakes!

This place ranks in the top 5 brunches I’ve ever had! I still think about it 6 months later! The French bread strata changed my life.

Get ready for the best cinnamon roll, pastries, coffee, and tea available in NC! This mother/daughter-owned bakery & cafe is one of the main reasons I’d move to Winston-Salem. The inside decor is breathtaking and I could see myself working here a few times a week with an Amish cinnamon roll and lavender & sage tea to keep me company!

This Latin Soul food and vibes of this restaurant had me dancing! Everything we tried here was FANTASTIC! You really can't go wrong!

CHICKEN & SWEET POTATO WAFFLES. Can’t get much better than that...except it does because Sweet Potatoes also serves the best catfish and cornbread ever!

Yamas is a Mediterranean Street Food restaurant that serves up authentic Mediterranean dishes like traditional gyros, braised lamb, baklava, and more! And their lemonades 🍋! I am currently trying to figure out how to make their rose lemonade and baklava cheesecake.

SIGHTS

This house gives off major Great Gatsby vibes! Touring the Reynolda family’s home and walking around this beautiful property is a must when in Winston-Salem!

Stop in the village for Dough Joe’s doughnuts, an AR workshop, and shopping!

Mural Hopping

Did you know that Winston-Salem is known as the City of Arts and Innovation? You can find sculptures and murals on the ground and rooftops throughout the city. Click here for the mural & art trail information!

Walk Around Quarry Park

Quarry Park offers amazing sights of the Winston-Salem skyline, as well as the deep blue waters of the old quarry. Walk the pier and add a lock with your love! There is also plenty of grass for a picnic and running around with little ones!

STAYS

I've stayed at The Brookstown Inn twice and LOVED IT! It’s so cozy, cookies are served in the evening, and the exposed brick is GORGEOUS!

The inn is conveniently located across the street from two awesome coffee shops, Camino Bakery and By Good Coffee, as well as several restaurants and boutiques.

If you love castles, Hogwarts, or historical buildings, you need to book a stay at the Graylyn Estate. The building’s bricks are unreal! It is also conveniently located right next to Reynolda Village, and only 5 minutes from downtown!

Winston-Salem is a hidden gem in North Carolina! It’s probably the most underrated city in the state! Visit and let me know your favorite spots!
